Silica sol is used in thin-shell precision casting to give the shell mold strength and a smooth casting finish. The molding quality is superior to sodium silicate. Ethyl silicate molding can be replaced to reduce costs and improve operating conditions. Silica sol casting is a type of investment casting. The overall procedures for Silica Sol Investment Casting are as follows:
1. Create a mold based on the shape of the part.
2. Next, using the mold, create the same wax pattern as the part.
3. When the wax pattern is immersed in a slurry of silica sol and quartz sand, a layer of slurry forms on the pattern, which then solidifies. The mold shell is essentially formed after several cycles of impregnation and curing.
4. To dewax the mold, immerse it in hot water; the wax will melt and float on the surface of the water, leaving the mold shell.
5. The casting process
